Thank you for a successful first year!

December 2024

New Haven Chinese Cultural Cooperative opened its door to the world almost a year ago. Since then, we have brought over a dozen programs to communities around Connecticut. The most recent performance was “Scenes from Jiangnan and Beyond,” the first of a two-part series highlighting a diverse musical tradition of China and its cultural legacy. Before a packed house last weekend at Yale’s Crescent Underground, in between the musical numbers, NHCCC members shared stories about regional tunes, personal journeys to their chosen Chinese instruments, classical poetry, and musical forms specific to various regions in the Chinese-speaking world. We are currently developing more programs that integrate music and culture, and are scheduling events in the spring and fall of 2025. Please contact us about programs and workshops.

Looking ahead to 2025, join us in celebrating the arrival of Year of the Snake in Yale-China’s Lunarfest at Yale’s Peabody Museum. We are bringing raucous percussion (Chinese drums, gongs, cymbals, bells…), in addition to traditional Chinese music instruments like erhu, dizi, guzheng, yangqin, pipa, ruan, and sheng. Enjoy a truly festive ambiance with many of our new year favorites - “Beautiful Flowers and Full Moon,” “Beaming with Joy,” “Rising Higher Step by Step,“ and more. The Peabody Museum is a wonderful venue for families. We are looking forward to seeing audience members of all ages moving to our tunes!

Through our work, NHCCC continues to follow its mission in bridging cultural differences in our community. To do so, we are asking you to support us by making donations, so we can keep bringing programming to work towards a more inclusive environment for our friends and neighbors.
