NHCCC is returning to Peabody Museum to take part in Yale-China’s annual Lunarfest. This year, we are telling the Chinese Zodiac animals story with songs like 金蛇狂舞 (Dance of the Golden Snake), 草蜢弄雞公 (Grasshopper Teasing the Rooster), and 小放牛 (Little Cowherd), to name a few. Additionally, we are bringing New Year’s favorites like 新春樂 (Joy of Spring), 旱天雷 (Thunder in the Drought), 喜慶鑼鼓 (Festive Gongs and Drums) , and 花好月圓 (Beautiful Flower and Full Moon).
To celebrate The Year of the Horse, we are also performing 揚鞭趕馬運糧忙 (Hurry the Horse to Cart Grain), as well as 賽馬 (Racing Horse), featuring the dizi and the erhu, to represent the energy, freedom, and perseverance commonly associated with the horse.
This is a free family event, open to the general public.
